Veri*factu in brasio: an overview
Also known as: VERI*FACTU, Verifactu, Verifacti, AEAT, tax compliance, SIF, Royal Decree 1007/2023, tax audit.
Veri*factu is the Spanish Tax Agency’s system for the real-time submission of invoicing records to the AEAT. Under the current timetable (Royal Decree-Law 15/2025), this becomes mandatory from 1 January 2027 for companies and from 1 July 2027 for SMEs and the self-employed — including the hospitality sector. brasio is ready to go out of the box: every receipt you issue is signed, chained to the previous one and ready to be sent to the tax authorities.
What brasio does for you
- It generates each receipt with a hash linked to the previous one, so that the sequence of receipts cannot be altered retrospectively without it being noticed.
- It prints a QR code on each receipt, in accordance with the format required by Veri*factu.
- It maintains an immutable record of all receipts issued on the premises.
- It allows you to export the records so that your accountant can submit them — see Export records for your accountant.
You don’t need to install anything extra. The signature and QR code are applied automatically from the very first receipt.
What you need to set up
Before you start taking payments, make sure your tax details are correct:
- Go to your account’s business details at
<your-slug>.brasio.io/account/business. - Fill in:
- NIF / CIF of the business owner.
- Registered business name or tax name (not the trading name of the premises).
- Full tax address, as it appears on the tax register.
- Save.
This information appears on every receipt and invoice issued by brasio. If it changes (e.g. due to a move or a change of name), update it here immediately.
Simplified receipt and full invoice
By default, brasio issues a simplified receipt (without customer details) for every payment. This covers the majority of sales in the hospitality sector. If a customer asks you for a full invoice with their tax identification number (e.g. for a business lunch), tap Invoice A in the payment flow and fill in their details. See Invoices and receipts.
Is brasio ‘certified’ for Veri*factu?
This is a frequently asked question, and the answer is important: there is no official Veri*factu certification. The Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT) does not certify software nor does it publish a list of approved programmes. Compliance is based on self-declaration: the software manufacturer declares, in accordance with Royal Decree 1007/2023 and Order HAC/1177/2024, that its system meets the technical requirements — integrity, immutability, traceability and accessibility — and is legally liable for this. (In the Basque Country, TicketBAI does have a separate ‘guaranteed software’ scheme.)
Therefore, if a supplier advertises a ‘Veri*factu-certified POS terminal’, they are describing something that does not exist. What an inspector can check on the spot is real and verifiable at that moment:
- Unalterable records: a closed receipt cannot be edited or deleted; corrections generate a linked cancellation record.
- Sequential hash chain: each record is cryptographically linked to the previous one, and the complete chain can be re-verified on demand.
- Veri*factu QR code on every receipt, verifiable on the AEAT portal.
- Complete exports (SII-compatible XML and CSV) for your accountant or for an audit.
Official information
The specific rules (turnover thresholds, submission deadlines, penalties) are published by the Tax Agency and are subject to change. Always check the official source:
brasio provides you with the records in the required format, but compliance is your responsibility and that of your accountant. If you’re unsure whether your business falls under this scheme, speak to your tax adviser.
Not working?
- You can’t see your business details: make sure you’re logged in to
<your-slug>.brasio.ioas the account holder. - The receipts do not have a QR code: your tax details have not been filled in. Go to
<your-slug>.brasio.io/account/businessand complete the details. - To send the records to your accountant at the end of the month, see Export records for your accountant.
